"Justice Now!" Campaign

Through the "Justice Now!" campaign we call for justice in international trade. We demand regulatory rules for trading that will be to the benefit of all people, particularly the poor, and the environment.
The present world trade system must be thoroughly reorganised. As part of the German "Justice Now!" campaign and the wider international trade justice movement, we invite everybody to campaign with us for new German and European trade policies along the lines of the following 5 key demands:

  • World trade affects us all: because of that we need a fair, transparent and democratically controlled world trade policy;
  • Free trade is not a value in itself: therefore, trade policy has to be subordinate to human rights, poverty eradication and environmental protection;
  • All countries have the right to manage their own economy: thus, richer nations with more economic and political power must not push the poorer countries towards opening their markets;
  • Adequate food, education and health services are human rights: consequently, trade policies should not undermine State obligations to ensure the rights to food, education and health;
  • Human beings and the environment are more important than profits of (multinational) corporations: companies and their investments need to be regulated through binding social and ecological standards.
